A Heritage Delight Itinerary

Indiana County is full of history; as a matter of fact Indiana County has 24 sites on the National Register of Historic Places, including four covered bridges, historical towns, 7 historical societies and several museums exhibiting displays representing our heritage.  We make our historical attractions interactive to get the most out of the experience.

Underground Railroad, Blairsville, PA

Spend the morning learning about the history of the underground railroad in the area. The “A Day in the Life of an Enslaved Child” display allows for hands-on experience. The “Freedom in the Air” exhibit shows the involvement of Abolitionists who worked quietly to aid anyone seeking freedom in the north.

Options for lunch include a box lunch or a meal at one of the local restaurants.

Visit to the historical Silas M. Clark House that serves as a museum for exhibits such as coal mining and a 19th century doctor’s office. A side trip to our local covered bridges can also be included.

This itinerary can be adjusted in several different ways. It can be expanded into an overnight tour and be combined with some of our other attractions.
