Six O’Clock Series – Constitution Day: What Would Our Founding Fathers Say?

September 18, 2023 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Free

Is the U.S. Constitution still relevant in its current state?
The Constitution is over 230 years old, and the events of the last few years make many people wonder whether the Constitution can continue to serve the needs of
society effectively.
Ask the authors of the Constitution what they think. Is it time for an update?

This event is part of the Six O’Clock series and will feature Political Science Emeritus faculty Dr. David Chambers and Dr. Mac Fiddner and Department of History professor Dr. Joe Mannard portraying Ben Franklin, Charles Pickney and James Madison, respectively in a discussion titled “What Would Our Founding Fathers Say?” IUP Political Science Professor Gwen Torges said that the reenactors enjoy fielding questions from the attendees.

The Six O’clock series event will be held at the great room in Elkin Hall.
All of the programs will also be available to view live via Zoom. A listing of Six O’Clock Series events is also available as a poster (PDF file).

All lectures are free and available to the public as well as the campus community. The lectures are targeted to an audience of college students and employees so all topics may not be appropriate for children.
