Lit Night at The Hand
August 25 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Lit Night has been a tradition at The Artists Hand before “the trying times” of the pandemic when it became impossible to sustain it. Lit Night is a free “open mic” style gathering for sharing literature aloud, attracting those who write, read and love words – and the ideas they represent. We kick off this year’s Lit Night series with Appalachian poet Byron Hoot. Byron’s poetry is featured in our current gallery show Piercing the Veil, a collaboration with photographer Greg Clary. His poems riff on Clary’s photography of provocative and unexpected Appalachian scenes capturing the natural art of reality in an instant.
PREPARE YOURSELF for this special Lit Night by dropping by the gallery and viewing Clary’s photography and writing in response to it or some other Appalachian image, theme, or situation or image that sparks your imagination. A poem. A short story. A fragment. OR, bring in any writing you would care to share – your own or something you’ve been reading.
