Juneteenth Holiday Celebration & Cookout

Juneteenth is a celebration that marks the official end of slavery in America in 1865.  Juneteenth is also a part of American history and signals the celebration of freedom for African Americans. It will include activities for both children and adults, live entertainment, music, delicious food, special guests, awards, prizes, and having just good ol’ fashion fun! It is also an opportunity for the community to interact with one another and relax.  The focus is on community engagement and to unite for one cause:  to increase the promotion of diversity awareness and understanding of each other. Promoting interactions and inclusion between people of different backgrounds and working together is vital to our future.  For as one writer indicated, “it is lack of contact that help perpetuate stereotypes and feelings that the other group is different and perhaps should be feared and mistrusted.”
