IUP Orchestra is coming to Calvary!

On Friday evening, March 3, at 7:30 p.m. the IUP Orchestra, led by Rebekah O’Brien, will present a free concert in Calvary’s newly renovated sanctuary. The concert will feature the combined power of the full orchestra and Calvary’s 40-rank pipe organ, played by organists Dr. Christine Clewell and Marissa Bruno. The program includes pieces by Elgar and Saint-Saëns and is highlighted by the world premiere of Roger Zare’s organ concerto Refuge(e), a new work about the innocent children whose lives have been turned upside down by war, violence, oppression, or natural disaster, and who must flee their homelands to seek refuge elsewhere. Woven into the music are children’s folk songs from Venezuela, Korea, and Afghanistan. Plan to be present, and bring your friends.
