Calligraphy II Workshop
October 28 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
IAA OFFERS CALLIGRAPHY II WORKSHOP
The Indiana Art Association (IAA) is offering a second calligraphy workshop taught by calligrapher Cindi Kordell. It will be held Sat., Oct. 28th at The Artists Hand Gallery Studio from 10-4.
Kordell has been a calligraphy enthusiast most of her life and has studied with master calligraphers. She currently does commission work, teaches classes, participates in arts/craft festivals, displays her work at The Artists Hand Gallery, and is a member of the IAA and the Calligraphy Guild of Pittsburgh.
For first-timers and as a refresher for previous students, Kordell will review the foundational letters. Students will then create finished note cards, gift tags or a painting incorporating lettering.
Students may bring prepared artwork to add lettering, or bring art supplies to create them at the workshop. All calligraphy supplies are provided but any other art supplies are not. Students are asked to bring a light box to trace lettering if they have one. Kordell noted that Dollar Tree in Indiana has them for $5.00. She said they are basic but do the job.
Repeat students are asked to bring their pen/nib from the first class. First time students should contact Kordell as she will provide a first one. Any left-handed students should let Kordell know so she can provide an appropriate pen/nib.
Kordell may be reached by calling or texting (724) 388-3742 or emailing email@example.com.
Workshop cost is $60 for IAA members and $75 for non-members. Sign up at IAA’s website www.indianaartassociation.org and pay with PayPal. Or mail a check with a note including name(s), email address, phone number and class name. Mail to Indiana Art Association, PO Box 448, Indiana, PA 15701.
Registration deadline is October 18th. No refunds after this date. IAA president and programs/classes chair Faye Kershishnik said the previous calligraphy class was very popular and sold out. She encouraged early registration for the upcoming class to ensure a spot.
Any questions, please contact Kordell at the above or Kershishnik by calling/texting (724) 254-1618 or emailing at Indianaartassociation.firstname.lastname@example.org.
