Calligraphy Workshop with Cindi Kordell

The Indiana Art Association (IAA) is offering a calligraphy workshop with Cindi Kordell on Saturday, February 24th at The Artists Hand Gallery Studio from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
During this workshop, Kordell will review the Foundation Hand—which she taught in previous classes. She will also introduce the Unical Hand, a popular calligraphic style for beginners as it flows easily from the pen. Kordell noted that this unique style was used in many historical manuscripts, including The Book of Kells and the Vespasian Psalter. She stressed that previous attendance is not necessary for this workshop.
Cost is $60 for IAA members; $75 for non-members. Sign up at IAA’s website www.indianaartassociation.org under Classes and pay with PayPal. Included in the cost are all needed supplies (ink, pen holder and nib, paper, exemplars, guidelines). Kordell asks that anyone having taken a previous workshop with her to please bring their pen and nib. If new, Kordell will provide one. Students should note if they’re left-handed when registering as Kordell will need to order a left-handed nib.
Deadline to sign-up is February 12th. No refunds after this date. Due to past class popularity, early registration is recommended.
Kordell has been a calligraphy enthusiast most of her life, first dabbling in the “art of beautiful writing” as a teenager. While working and raising her family, she still found time for her art by taking on private commissions, teaching classes, taking classes/workshops with master calligraphers and participating in arts and craft festivals. Kordell currently displays at The Artists Hand Gallery and is a member of the IAA and the Calligraphy Guild of Pittsburgh.
