Auditions: “Murder at the Sock Hop” Mystery Dinner
April 23 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Come out and audition for “Murder at the Sock Hop” an interactive mystery dinner experience brought to you by The Historical and Genealogical Society of Indiana County and Indiana Players, Inc!
We are looking for nine cast members for this unique performance consisting of scripted scenes and improvisational audience interaction.
Auditions are taking place Sunday, April 23rd between 7pm and 9pm at the Philadelphia Street Playhouse (725 Philadelphia Street, Indiana PA). No appointment necessary. No experience necessary with acting or improvisation. Just a willingness to learn! Auditions will consist of readings from the script and some simple improvisational exercises. Must be 18+ to audition.
“Murder at the Sock Hop” will take place Sunday, June 25th at Indiana Fraternal Order of Eagles. Doors open at 5pm. Rehearsals will be minimal – typically once a week and scheduled around the schedules of the cast. The final week before the performance there will be additional rehearsals, again keeping in mind actor schedules.
Cast: 9 Roles (6M/3F).
Mr. Slime – the janitor; a kindly man who everyone can turn to
Officer Krupke – the school security guard; he might be more capable than he seems
Principal DeWitt – he tries to be the cool principal, but it doesn’t always work out well
Penny – an average 1950s teenage girl
Mary – another average 1950s teenage girl
Brenda – the prom queen; popular girl
Scooch – average 1950s teenage boy
Brad – average 1950s teenage boy; very studious
Eddie – the prom king; popular boy
Note: Many characters are high school seniors but, with the very campy and silly style of the show, older actors can play high school students.
