The Indiana Art Association – “Seasonal Flowers With A Surprise”

The Indiana Art Association (IAA) is offering a Jonelle Summerfield still life oil painting workshop, “Seasonal Flowers With A Surprise,” on Saturday, April 27th from 10 AM—4:00 PM at The Artists Hand Gallery & Espresso Bar.

According to IAA President and Programs/Classes Chair Faye Kershishnik, the workshop is for serious oil painters of all levels—from beginners to those who want to reinforce what they already know.

Topics covered will include selecting a subject, determining best lighting, optimizing the composition, choosing best materials and completing a painting in stages.

Kershishnik said, “Participants will construct their own composition and work through the stages of completing their painting. Students should be prepared to start and restart with a spirit of experimentation!”

She added that Summerfield will bring seasonal flowers, prompts and a surprise. Summerfield will also provide each student with an 11 X 14 canvas, rubber gloves and plastic aprons.

The cost for the six-hour class is $60 for IAA members and $75 for non-members. Payment may be made with PayPal at the IAA website. Summerfield is an oil painter from Indiana, PA. She received a degree in Interior Design from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She credits her mother, Jolene Joyner, as being her first and most influential art teacher. Summerfield has also studied with Qiang Huang, Darren Kingsley, Kerry Dunn and John Del Monte.

Her art career began by selling work online and at the New Growth Arts Festival. From there, she branched out into online art galleries and has exhibited in Indiana, PA; Latrobe, PA; Ligonier, PA, Pittsburgh, PA and New York, NY.

Summerfield’s paintings are inspired by her travels near and far, her hobbies, domestic scenes and her cats. Her work’s goal is to depict the good things in life to provide relief from a chaotic world.
