Walk, Bike, Ride, Roll! Plan Available for Public Review
INDIANA COUNTY, PA – The Active Transportation Plan Update for Indiana County is currently available for public review and comment. The Indiana County Office of Planning & Development (ICOPD) and the Project Steering Committee invite you to review and provide feedback and comments on this Final Draft document. The Plan is available for review online at https://icopd.org/active-transportation-plan.html or in person at the ICOPD office at 801 Water Street, Indiana or the Indiana County Commissioners office at 825 Philadelphia Street, Indiana.
Indiana Borough, Indiana County and White Township all received funding in 2021 through the PA WalkWorks program to advance their collective visions of increasing walking and biking within their municipalities. After funding was received in September 2021, Indiana County engaged the consultants Mark Lazzari from EADS Group Inc. and Barb Hauge from Thomas R. Harley Architects, LLC and pulled together a Project Steering Committee to develop the plan as a team along with ICOPD staff.
Throughout the plan development process and until adoption of the Plan Update, Indiana County residents have had the opportunity to plan and discuss Active Transportation through open house gatherings, on-line surveys, comment mapping, and open comment periods on posted drafts. The County’s previous Bicycle and Pedestrian Transportation Plan was adopted in 2011 and needed updating, as many goals have been satisfied, expanded, or added since its completion. This plan aligns with the Regional Vision of Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission (SPC)’s Regional Active Transportation Plan for Southwestern Pennsylvania to strengthen communities, improve transportation safety and security, enhance multimodal accessibility and connectivity, and improve public health and enhance the environment. Please provide feedback and comments by Tuesday, January 10th at 4:00pm.
