The Jimmy Stewart Museum Prepares for Birthday Celebration

Did you know…..
Indiana County’s “hometown hero” Jimmy Stewart was born on May 20?
In celebration of the anniversary of his birthday, there are several things happening!

The Jimmy Stewart Museum has a fun-filled day planned with the event: Jimmy Stewart’s Birthday Celebration.
Highlights of the day include:
– Debut of a new rotating exhibit:  “Another Wonderful Life”.  The exhibit will feature the art of Mary Stewart.  It’s a new retrospective of the work of Jimmy Stewart’s younger sister Mary, from award-winning posters to her long-running cartoon series and delicate portraits.  Read the press release about the exhibit.
– Watch a featured matinee: “HARVEY” in their vintage movie theater.
– Enjoy free Harvey cookies (while supplies last).
– Jimmy Stewart Amateur Radio Special Event Station: On Saturday, May 20, 2023, Indiana County will celebrate Jimmy Stewart’s birthday by announcing it around the world – by way of amateur (ham) radio. The Indiana County Amateur Radio Club, ICARC, will be on hand outside the entrance of the Jimmy Stewart Museum as a “Special Event Station,” with the callsign, W3S. The club’s amateur radio operators will transmit live, throughout the day, to other ham radio operators around the world. They’ll promote Jimmy Stewart, the museum, and Indiana County. They’ll also keep a log all of their radio contacts and locations. All are welcome to stop by and join in the world-wide fun.
