| For our Christmas show, we will be doing The Nutcracker as adapted by the Indiana Players' own Leslie Swentosky from the original story of The Nutcracker and Mouse King by E.T.A. Hoffman written between 1819-1821, and from the ballet by Peter Tchaikovsky first performed in 1892. This adaptation is an artistic blend of dialogue, the music of Tchaikovsky, and puppetry. |

Last year was the 4th annual Shoot for the Cure. IUP Women's Basketball raises money to help find a cure for breast cancer. The money raised during Shoot for the Cure goes back to the local hospitals and care centers in the Indiana and Great Pgh area for things such as free mamograms for women who can't afford them, free screenings, and educational material. Last year, $9,000 was raised and IUP Women's basketball players and staff compiled over 4,000 community service hours fundraising and preparing for the tournament. With invaluable backing and help from the IRMC and countless
community supporters IUP Women's Basketball has raised $39,606 for the Komen Foundation to help fight breast cancer since the start of the Shoot for the Cure in 05-06. This year we hope to have to most successful event yet. This year will be the 5th Shoot for the Cure and we are hoping to eclipse the 50 thousand dollar mark.
